True financial freedom for most people is having the ability to do what you want when you want, and how you want, without regard to your bank account value. Feeling abundant and prosperous are the effects of our emotional well-being. When we have true freedom with our money, we have a healthy mindset, vibrant emotions, and a carefree attitude.
This is the life that many dream of. Vacationing when you want, working when you want, and with little responsibility. Reality is most people work, have a job to go to, and receive a paycheck. Even as a business owner, you still have to earn income to pay all the bills, pay the employees, and pay yourself. If you find yourself in a position that there isn’t enough money to go around, we are automatically programed for our mindset to think financial poverty.
Financial poverty by definition is lacking the financial resources and essentials for a minimum standard of living. However, you can still experience financial poverty when you have the essentials, but not the extra to do what you want when you want. This creates a mindset that you don’t have enough to go around and do the fun things in life. Financial poverty also shows up as living paycheck to paycheck, and either saving little and spending everything, or while you save everything possible not allowing yourself to really enjoy the fruits of their labor. There needs to be a balance between spending and saving.
To overcome feelings of financial poverty, many people turn to mindset coaching. This can be a viable solution, working on the beliefs and patterns of thinking to change the perception. However, not all mind set coaches are the same. Many of them work on the conscious level, only looking at the surface level with what you are aware of. Some mindset coaches go a few layers deeper, to the “root” of the problem. I often wonder how they know what the “root” is for each person, and how do you know when it is reached. Regardless, they don’t ask the question, what is under the root.
Under the “root” is an emotional frequency that is holding a belief pattern in place. Until the emotional frequency is discovered, the belief or pattern might change, but will eventually resurface since the vibrational frequency of the pattern is still resonating. Your feeling sand emotions reside on the subconscious level, and for some people, on the unconscious level.
The real problem with money and financial poverty, is emotional poverty, feelings and emotions that hold belief patterns in place. Emotional poverty happens when we don’t receive the basic feelings that we need for a healthy sense of purpose and self-esteem. Feelings of lack, less than, not enough, unworthy, unappreciated, and undervalued are learned in childhood, repeating theme that plays through-out your life.
What you experienced with emotions and feelings about yourself growing up are the beliefs and patterns that operate automatically today. How you think and feel about yourself is how money responds to you in life. If you experienced feeling not worthy, your net worth may not be very high. If you felt unappreciated, your investments may not appreciate much. If you felt unvalued when you were in childhood, the value of your bank accounts may not be high. If you don’t have enough to fund your goals, you may have not felt enough for your parents or loved ones. There is a direct correlation between how you think and feel about yourself, your childhood experiences, and your bank account.
We are not meant to do this work alone. Even if you are able to discover belief patterns, it is difficult to identify the feelings underneath by ourselves. We are simply unaware with how we feel most of the time, and it is even harder to identify and name emotions. Clients, when asked how something feels, most often say words such as “ok” or “good”. These are not emotions and feelings, just subconscious programed responses. Probing to really identify the feeling is essential, until the real feelings are discovered. This is why it makes overcoming emotional poverty difficult. We simply are not trained to express our emotional state, and when we do, we don’t express in terms of emotions or feelings. We express what our emotions and feelings are doing, such as “I am stuck”. Being stuck is not a feeling, but rather what the feeling is doing. We have to identify what feeling is stuck. This is what makes it difficult to do this work for yourself.
The real pay-off is when the emotions are released that hold the belief patterns in place, you can overcome emotional poverty and your bank account increases. When you feel worthy, valued, appreciated, and enough, your bank account will begin to reflect it.
