Calling all mothers… I bow in service to you – It was Friday at 4 PM….
I don’t usually take calls on Friday as it’s a dedicated admin day for me. But I felt a nudge to take the call.
I’ve become more familiar with that nudge and the need to listen to it.
I don’t question it anymore, not like I used to.
Nor do I try and make logic of something that isn’t logical….
In a day and age where everyone wants everything explained down to the exact detail. Intuition remains inexplicable in a logical sense.
There’s a reason for that.. perhaps our job is to stop questioning it and start trusting it…
I got on the call and was met with a bright smile… this woman had a personality… I loved it.
I knew little about her other than she held two degrees… she was a doctor of chiropractic and a nurse.
Smart cookie, to say the least.
As we began talking, she started to reveal some of the life she had seen.
This woman had lived through a cancer diagnosis and was a single mom to two boys.
She pressed me but in a really subtle way. I knew what she was doing, and I appreciated it.
She wanted to ensure I knew what I was talking about. Not from the place of wanting to write down and analyze everything I said through a Google search kind of way.
In a, can she keep an open mind and go from topic to topic and keep pace kind of way.
In a, if I ask her a question and she doesn’t know the answer or the answer isn’t binary, is she willing to say so kind of way.
She stopped me 30 minutes in and said, you’re smart, you know your stuff, I like you. Let’s do this, life is short, and we don’t have time to waste.
I appreciated her candor and thought to myself.. wow, this was one of the easiest calls I’ve ever taken.
Not easy in a sense that she didn’t ask good questions.. because she did.
In fact, I didn’t fully understand the ease I felt and what she was teaching me until I sat with the interaction a little later.
When the revelation came. It hit me like a ton of bricks.
I opened up my phone and reached out to a member of my team… I was having an epiphany and wanted to share it with someone who understood.
The text exchange looked like this:
I’ve gotten really clear on the person I want to serve in this role and lifetime
There are maidens (think damsel in distress) and mothers (think Skywoman of the indigenous story about where the earth as we know it came from.)
I want to work with the mother who understands that life is preciously short.
I want to work with the mother who understands that sovereignty means she will be supported in her process but that no one can implement and apply but her.
I want to work with the mother who says, “I need help and don’t know where to start,” or “I don’t understand. Can you clarify, please” or “something feels off, and I’m not sure what it is, can you help with my discernment”
I want to work with the mother who isn’t going to allow the flicker of change to send her running back to previous patterns and indulgences.
I want to work with the mother who has seen a lot of life and learned from it. Knowing that putting herself or her intuition off is only going to prolong the discomfort and pain.
I’ve loved and served the maiden for many years because many parts of ME still identified with her, and that chapter has come to a close. The maiden cries for help and then runs from it.
The maiden blames everything about her situation on an external source instead of taking an internal look and inventory.
The maiden screams she is so sick and tired of the “pain, irregularity, discomfort, etc.” But refuses to fully commit to doing something about it.
Maidens are hard to garner accountability out of
You see, the mother knows life is short, and because of that, she knows it’s meant to be lived and lived well.
The maiden thinks she has time to waste.
So, in the conversation, which was a really enjoyable back and forth… I answered one of the questions that has been lingering in my heart since the start of my work with psychedelics…
What am I here to do, and who am I here to serve?
The mother is the woman I want to serve as the world is in dire need of fully supported, fully held, fully seen, and understood women.
I want to be clear. Mother isn’t just a byproduct of birthing a child but a right of passage each woman is asked to pass through while journeying through life, with or without child.
Mothers know that they can’t do it all on their own.
Mothers know the value of asking for help and receiving it.
Mothers, in all their infinite wisdom, know that when we support each other, anything is possible.
We have a lot of women stuck in maiden.
I imagine many of those stuck in this place are curious to step out of it. Like pants and partners, we outgrow this era of our life eventually as well.
Instead of serving us in our growth, the outgrown maiden sabotages her own efforts.
Ladies, the time is now, and we are being beckoned.
Thus, calling all mothers, I bow in service to you.
Are you willing to step forth towards the invitation from maiden to mother?
Big Love, T
