Stillness is a Source of Power – Spending time in stillness benefits me in a number of ways. It is how I connect with my inner knowing. Being in stillness builds coherence between my mind, body, and present time. Silence holds answers.
Within you, there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time and be yourself.
~ Hermann Hesse
Silence is a sanctuary from stories and worry. Stillness is where you can tune into the vibration and deep intelligence that is you. Your soul has answers that silence lets you hear. The place of information beyond words is so close, but it must be consciously sought in the waking state.
Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.
~ Anne Lamont
It is good to balance the momentum of the world with inner stillness. This helps you to revolve around your own axis more of the time. Time spent meditating or another form of self-connection is never wasted. The increased “centeredness” allows you to more readily broadcast on your own frequency.
A relevant Soul Statement to declare the truth of this can be:
When my head and heart are connected, I am brave and unstoppable.
To shift from distress, confusion or distraction, slow down and contact the quiet at your center. Simply take a bit of time to close your eyes and watch your breath. Breathe naturally and allow your awareness to sink beneath surface thoughts.
Sometimes I will visualize my mind as a muddy glass of water that is becoming clear as the dirt particles settle to the bottom. I’ll allow my thoughts to settle along with the contents of this imaginary glass.
I also thoroughly enjoy bodysurfing in the ocean. It is prudent to dive underneath the biggest waves so I’ll press my body on the sandy bottom and listen to the underwater silence as the wave rolls by. Finding the deeper you is a lot like diving under a wave and listening. During my devotion in the mornings, I often recall the feeling of the silence under the surface of the ocean to help me feel the quiet that exists under my surface thoughts.
Where were you when you felt the most contentment and peace? I invite you to drop into the feeling and remembrance of this place to find serenity in real time. The more you do this, the more accessible serenity will become. Stillness is your natural home.
It is natural to ebb and flow with your attention as you get absorbed in the demands and distractions of the day. Could you take a few moments each day to gather up a bit of your own essence? You may come to love contacting the great silence that lives under everyday bustle. Inner alignment is always available. The place of information beyond words is so close, but it must be consciously sought.
Claiming “the deep within” (my term for contacting one’s center) doesn’t require a large time commitment, just consistent time for internal connection. Noticing that you’re “off” can be a signal to pause and connect inwardly. Your heart always knows what matters. When connected to your heart, you can take the next right action with confidence. Turn your solo time into “soul time”.
Being resourced from within serves you and everyone that you interact with. What if knowing yourself at depth produced a state of immovable joy at your surface?
